L’Aventure Peugeot at Le Mans Classic 2022
L'Aventure Peugeot will participate in the LE MANS CLASSIC event, from June 30 to July 3, 2022, with the CD PEUGEOT SP66 registered in set n°4. An extraordinary adventure to follow here, on www.lesvoitures.fr, and on M6 Turbo after the event.
History of the PEUGEOT SP66 CD
In 1961, Charles Deutsch (CD) and aerodynamicist Lucien Romani (later director of the Eiffel laboratory) studied a new car intended for both small production in grand touring and competition, in particular with the aim of take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
After using Panhard and then DKW engines, Charles Deutsch turned to Peugeot, which had just launched the 204, to power his cars. The CDs are therefore equipped with the engine of the brand new PEUGEOT 204, with a displacement of 1130 cm3, with unofficial support from the Lion brand.
In 1966, no less than three cars were entered. Alas, the three cars will have to retire. The N°51, at the 6th hour following a collision, the N°52, also at the 6th hour due to clutch failure and the N°53 by accident at the 9th hour.
In 1967, this time it was two CDs that did not have the chance to see the finish. This is the end of the CD brand.

With a total power of some 110 horsepower which can make you smile, the Peugeot SP66 CDs could however cut through the air in the Mulsane at 250 km/h. A feat made possible by a reduced weight of 760 kg (600 kg empty) but also careful aerodynamics, with a CX of 0.20. The PEUGEOT SP66 CD entered in Le Mans Classic 2022
It is the car N°52 from 1966 which will be on the Sarthoise track at the end of June. In order to prepare for this deadline, a first test run was carried out on the Dijon-Prenois circuit in early June. A first test session that allowed the L’Aventure Peugeot team to make the PEUGEOT SP66 CD more reliable and to take stock of any optimizations to be made before the big day.

These two days in Dijon were also an opportunity for the drivers to get used to the car. Etienne Bruet (journalist for M6 Turbo) and Thomas de Chessé (founder of LesVoitures.com) were able to take the measure of this car like no other with a design that is as atypical as it is fantastic.
