Peugeot 504

Succeeding the 404, with which it will coexist for 7 years, the 504 offers, compared to its predecessor, a larger size and a higher engine capacity. This large middle-class sedan illustrates the move upmarket of middle-class models from the 203 to the 504. This evolution reflects the rising standard of living in France during the “Trente Glorieuses” period.
Scheduled for the spring of 1968, the launch of the 504 was postponed due to the social crisis. The car was finally presented on the eve of the Paris Motor Show. It cannot be said that the 504, a wise sedan embodying the traditional values of seriousness and reliability of the brand, is in the image of its vintage.
