Although 70% of the machines were returned to the Montbéliard region, the stocks of raw materials could not be recovered. The factories also had to be rebuilt.
The cost is high, forcing the company to borrow, but in doing so, Jean-Pierre Peugeot ensures the return to the forefront of French car manufacturers. The gamble may be risky but it pays off, and some even speak of the miracle of the Sochaux renaissance.
