Creation of the Citroën brand and marketing of the first TYPE A 10 HP vehicle
The great beginnings! With the experience he had acquired since February 1908 with the Mors cars, and then with the production of shells during the Great War, André Citroën decided, before the end of hostilities, to become a car manufacturer. Although he was already a renowned engineer, he also showed an unprecedented commercial sense to promote his production. For his first car, André Citroën knew what he wanted: a modestly priced car that was low maintenance. This guiding principle guided the plans for the 10 HP Type A until its birth in 1919. It was inspired by the design and production methods of Henry Ford’s Model T.
