401
The 201 had the benefit of pushing towards rationalised production, but the single model intended for Sochaux did not meet the wide range of expectations of potential buyers after the 1929 crisis. Peugeot launched a diversification, based on the power of its products, and an increase in the range. Presented in the autumn of 1934, the 401 was inserted between the luxurious 601 and the robust and wealthy 301. The Peugeot 401 was equipped with a 44 bhp engine and, like all 01 series Peugeots, with an independent front wheel system.
