306
Automobiles Peugeot presents its new proposition in the M1 segment, the second largest segment in terms of volume: the Peugeot 306, which will be marketed in France from February 18, 1993, and in other European countries in less than three months.
With its design made of taut and pure lines, with its warm and comfortable interior, dynamically endowed with qualities rarely achieved in this market niche, the Peugeot 306 combines driving and pleasure in total safety, both active and passive. With these advantages, the Peugeot 306 aims to become the new benchmark in this segment.
As such, it is not only a new number in the Automobiles Peugeot range; it is also the beginning of an unrestrained variation. Indeed, the Peugeot 306 is called upon, in the very near future, to satisfy the expectations of a very diversified clientele through the richness of its subsequent developments, including in terms of bodywork.
It begins its commercial career in 5-door petrol versions, in three finishing levels, powered by a choice of three engines varying from 1360 cm3 (75 hp) to 1762 cm3 (103 hp).
Production of the Peugeot 306 began on the multi-purpose lines in the Poissy center in September 1992 and has already reached the rate of 500 units per day.
Furthermore, the international vocation of this sedan is reflected, on an industrial level, by its rapid production at Ryton in Great Britain and at Villaverde in Spain. The production potential of the Peugeot 306 increases very quickly to a daily capacity well in excess of 2,500 units.
