The Xsara T4 is 20 years old!

To take on the best in the World Rally Championship from 2001, Citroën Sport developed the Xsara T4 (for Turbo, four-wheel drive) for the 2000 season, which was approved for the French rally championship.

This is why the Xsara T4 is also called Xsara FRC (France Rallye Car).

Its 2.0l 4-cylinder engine, on which a Garrett turbo is grafted, reaches a power of 300 hp and an impressive torque (53 mkg at 4000 rpm). The sequentially operated gearbox has six gears. The three differentials (front, center and rear) are “controlled” by a Magneti-Marelli MR3 computer, identical to the one that manages the engine. Its weight is 1230 kg.

The Philippe Bugalski – Jean-Paul Chiaroni team, were winners of all the rallies in which they participated, wins with this new Xsara T4 a third consecutive title of French rally champion (the two previous titles having been won in 1998 and 1999 behind the wheel of the two-wheel drive Xsara Kit Car). This 2000 season shows the know-how of Citroën Sport which quickly develops this 4-wheel drive Xsara with a view to its homologation in the WRC (World Rally Car). From 2001, Citroën became a key player in the WRC (World Rally Championship) and wrote the best rally record of any manufacturer on the planet!
