The Simca 1100 of Benjamin
In 2014 I have already been working for three years in the remanufacturing of parts for old cars. And then I created News d’Anciennes the previous year. So rather than an occasion, it’s towards an old car that I turn when the need arises to have a second car at home. But for that matter, not the same as the others! I hesitate between several models but finally chose a Simca 1100. What a quirky ride!
One fine day in early April, I go to look for it. A black Simca 1100 5cv, red interior, which has just under 100,000 km. It has a little problem though, it can’t idle! Once this little whim has been rectified, it is ready to be my everyday car. Long journeys do not scare it. The Trojan ring road at 110 km/h is not her favorite playground, it is not uncomfortable there. It takes me on both the daily commute and many vintage car events. Rather economical and comfortable (except for the sound of the Poissy engine at high speed), it’s a very good car!
It stopped being my daily after two years. I drove a lot less. I took the opportunity to bring it the care that it had been denied for too long. Today it resumes regular service. I mainly use it for short trips but I really want to take it on a real big road trip. And it won’t be long till I embark on such an adventure!
