100 years of the Citroën Type A 10 HP
The first car produced by André Citroën in 1919, the Type A 10 HP marked the birth of Citroën as a car manufacturer. The construction engineer thus ensured his conversion immediately after the First World War.

The type A 10 HP is presented to the press on 4 June 1919; the first customer is delivered on July 7, 1919.
Its engine is an in-line four-cylinder with a displacement of 1327 cm3 developing 18 real horsepower at 2100 rpm. It consumes only 7.5 liters per 100 km. The gearbox is three-speed plus reverse, rear-wheel drive. The maximum speed is 65 km/h on a flat road.

Produced at the Javel factory in Paris from 1919 to 1921 in 24,093 units, the Type A allowed its manufacturer to assert itself and move towards success. Indeed, André Citroën became the first European automobile manufacturer in 1929, just ten years after its arrival on the automobile market. The Type B2 succeeded the Type A in 1921.
